Our Lord Provides!
by Amy Tuell
Over the years through the foster system, the Smith* Family has welcomed over 35 children into their home. But this was the first time they welcomed in a sibling set of 5 young children during a worldwide pandemic.
Their church recently launched a wraparound support ministry, called Care Communities, where a team of 6-8 volunteers encircle a foster or adoptive family with prayer, meals and assistance with babysitting, transportation or childcare. The Lord lifted up an awesome group of believers for the Smiths that were trained and started supporting them with meals, prayer and other small services. But the Smiths indicated they did not need any assistance with childcare. They wanted to protect their children, as much as humanly possible, from being exposed to the virus or becoming sick during the early months of the Covid 19.
Their Care Community team wanted to do more. So, they worked diligently to fund and then spent a weekend constructing a huge playset for all the children to enjoy right in their own backyard. The Smith family members are grateful the playset will be there for years to come and are praying that Covid will not.
The Smiths responded: “WOW!! We really appreciate the tremendous effort on behalf of the Care Team!! This is an amazing gift!! The kids will definitely get a lot of use out of this!! We saw little Joey* stop in his tracks, his eyes opened really wide, and his jaw dropped when he saw them begin to build it. What a blessing this is… and will be. Praising God for our incredible team! Thank you, thank you, Thank you!!”
