Safe Families for Children Training

Thank you for your interest in participating in our upcoming training for Safe Families!

Our next training is Saturday October 26th. The details are available here.

We want to make you aware that Coalition of Care, the “parent organization” of Safe Families ministry in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, has launched an exciting collaboration with Back2Back Ministries, and together we will be providing a fresh new version of our training. The first part of the training will feature overviews that help each of us to understand the demographics of the families we serve. We’ll learn about differences in culture and race and ethnicity, and gain awareness about the impact of trauma on the brains of the children and adolescents we serve. The latter portion of the training will provide specific equipping tools related to Safe Families and becoming a Host Family and/or a Family Coach.

We have labelled this fresh new training as “START HERE”, to help us all figure out where to start on our journey of serving vulnerable kids and fragile families. START HERE is an enhanced version of our traditional, required Safe Families training session. We are excited that a number of Cincinnati ministries will be represented at this training, and we will have the opportunity to collaborate as we all work to strengthen vulnerable families, create safe environments for kids and alleviate the cycle of generational poverty that permeates our area.

START HERE will provide our regular Safe Families agenda with a deeper dive into the issues of trauma, culture and poverty. We pray that this partnership will better prepare each of us to step into the brokenness. We will also set you up for success with plenty of resources and a streamlined paperwork process.

Breakfast, Lunch and Snacks will be provided. Background Checks and Childcare will be available for additional fees.

*** Please note that Background Checks are a requirement to become a Host Family and/or a Family Coach. However, it is not a requirement that you obtain Background Checks at this training for these fees. There are other options for Background Checks that are less expensive but also less convenient. So if convenience is your most important consideration, we encourage you to sign up and pay for Background Checks at this training. If expense is your most important consideration, you can attend this training without registering for Background Checks, and learn about other Background Check options.
